Formed in 1967 and initially called “The Big Thing” they played top 40 hits in nightclubs. While gaining some success as a cover band, the group began working on original songs. In 1968 they changed their name to the “Chicago Transit Authority” and shortened that to “Chicago” in 1969. The self-described “rock and roll band with horns” gradually moved to a predominantly softer sound. Chicago is one of the longest-running and one of the best selling groups of all time. Their 38th studio album has just been released and the single “If This Is Goodbye” is new this week on RadiJohan.
