Queen have released a previously unreleased song with the legendary Freddie Mercury on lead vocals. Face It Alone was recorded during the sessions for Queen’s 1989 album The Miracle. The track had been forgotten about but was rediscovered when the band returned to the sessions as part of a reissue box-set for the album due to be released in November. Guitarist Brian May said that they found the “little gem” kind of hiding in plain sight. He explained:
“We looked at it many times and thought, oh no, we can’t really rescue that. But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, ‘OK, we can do this and this.’ It’s like kind of stitching bits together. But it’s beautiful, it’s touching.”
The presence of Freddie is without doubt the song’s main attraction. Face It Alone is new this week on Radijohan.
